The City of Crosby, Minnesota, sits on the edge of Serpent Lake within a larger region known as the Crosby-Ironton Iron Range, or the Cuyuna Range. In 1977 a 2,500-pound styrofoam sculpture of a large serpent was installed on the shore of the lake and a contest was held to give the serpent a name. The winning entry was announced in 1978 as Kahnah’bek Sagahgon, the Ojibwe name for Serpent. The image of this serpent is centered on this token die with the name Crosby, Minn on the base.
