By J Ross Browne. First edition. 1864. Harper and Brothers, New York. Hardbound boards. 8 x 5.5" This is an all-time western classic describing J Ross Browne's visit to the Comstock Lode and other Western places from 1860 to 1864. Of particular interest, as well, was his discussion of Crusoe's island where Jay Ross Browne was charged with the exploration to find out if Robinson Crusoe in fact did exist. The character created by Daniel Defoe's famous book ended up with similarities to some things that Browne found on an island in the Atlantic. For the details you'll have to read the book. This is a tremendously important reference work and the first edition. State:Nevada / California City: Date:1864 ID#46062
