This is a photo of Benjamin Whitehouse in 1928 aged 81 at 2.5 in. X 5.5 in. Benjamin F. Whitehouse is remembered as the last surviving member of the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) at Post #112 in Frederick, South Dakota. But he is also known as the bulger for the 7th Cavalry, for General Custer. He re-enlisted twice (re-upped) after the Civil War but decided to hang up the bugle before June of 1876.
