This requisition was signed by Frederick W. Benteen of the 7th Cavalry company H in January, 1878. The request for candles is for illumination of the stables. Signed by both Benteen, a survivor of the Battle of the Little Big Horn, and Cptn. John Poland. On the morning of July 25, 1876, F.W. Benteen was given the responsibility of scouting the left edge of the valley and to join the company later upon completion of that task. His three companies joined in time to be pinned down at the river for two days, but survived with heavy casualties. Beautiful script penmanship.
