C. H., Va. April 9, 1865. This printed page congratulating the 3rd Cavalry Division for their gallant efforts where the result was the complete "surrender of the enemy's entire army". It is dated April 9th, 1865 Appomattox Court House, Virginia to the "soldiers of the Third Cavalry Division". It is print signed "G.A. Custer, Brevet Major General". Custer specifically mentions the capture of sixty-five battle flags from the enemy. It was Thomas Custer, George's brother, who captured company colors from the enemy while on horseback to receive the nation's first Congressional Metal of Honor, (he did it twice and lived to talk about it). With a gold border embellishment, yellowed corner edging, folded center. Very good condition. Extremely rare broadside 8 in. X 10 in. Please see photo for details. Virginia
