This cabinet card by D.F. Barry is dated 1880 from Bismarck, South Dakota. At 4.25 in. X 6.5 in. The image of Curly a Crow scout to Custer's column is good with one corner missing and foxed corners. Indian scouts were paid to find other tribes but not to fight. Curly has long been defined as a survivor of the Battle of the Little Big Horn conflict. His orders were to leave promptly. Here is wears his hair in otter skin wraps, a blanket, and a riding quirt. A darkened image light staining. A rare image to find. The second item is a court deposition where Curly states that he never got paid for delivering hay for the cavalry. The document is dated August 7, 1901. Curly has his signature "X" on the second page. Very good condition court document.
