This letter contains the pass written by Wm. H. Inglun of the 9th Infantry to Chief Sitting Bull. The pass was written inviting Sitting Bull to talk peace four days after the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Chief Sitting Bull did not exercise this invitation to the fort. He chose, instead, to flee to Canada. The note is dated "June 29, 76". The envelope is written t "Sitting Bull/ PASS". Please see photos for details.
