Office in Baltimore, Maryland. Numbers 794. Issued for 100 shares to George L Gootee on March 14, 1867. Signed by president (Williams) and secretary (Brooks). Two 25 cent US IR adhesive stamps. One on front and one on reverse. Vignette of impressive mine and mill buildings. Folds, otherwise excellent with no edge issues, dog ears or pinholes, only a small top chip. Chartered by the North Carolina Legislature in 1861 to mine and explore for copper, lead, gold, silver, etc. Located in Davidson County. In 1868 the legislature of North Carolina allowed for the increase of stock so they could extend the mine further, build a mill and build a line from the mine to the North Carolina Rail Road.
