Lot of 2. Two very rare postcards. Undivided, no postmark. One is miniature poster of “Days of ‘49 Mining Camp”. The other has a smaller version of the same poster and a doll hanging from a gallows. These posters were created as a result of the Depression. Calif. decided that everyone needed a little cheering up and at a State Chamber of Commerce meeting towns were urged to come up with a “49 celebration theme for their town. everyone thought Placerville should be the focal point. Short version: a theme was cremated, the slogan “Hit the Gold Trail to Hangtown” for the seven weekend event from May 21 to July 5 1931. Long version at : I f interested, http://www.dougstepsout.com/2014/03/15/when-placerville-knew-how-to-party/. Bottom line these are rare in any form.
