Lot of 3 different. Rare Deadwood billheads and check from the early years of the camp. 1) 1881 billhead to Helena with "Merchants National Bank" stamped at top. Message mentions PRESIDENT SETH BULLOCK, who was Deadwood's first sheriff, a US Marshal, and close friends with Teddy Roosevelt. Message is about Mr. Sawtelle, who "failed in his efforts to make a fortune in our city." 9 x 5.5" 2) 1878 Banking billhead to Henry Elling in Virginia City, Montana. Message about how Milner has no prospect to pay and has headed to the Bear Paw Mountains. 9.25 x 5.5" 3) Also included is a scarce revenue check for the bank, 1877, RN-G. Stebbins, Wood & Post was founded in 1877. In 1879, it became Stebbins, Post, & Mund.
