Deed of Mining Claim in Sierra County, CA. Issued to F.G. Decker, H.C. Howe, A.M. Phalin and John Down on Nov 4, 1896. Sold by La Monte Brown, Henry Kingdon, Henry Skinners and J.A. Reid, selling their one-sixth interest in the Monitor Mining Claims (between the waters of Slate- and Canyon Creek, 2 miles south of Port Wine, adjoining the Bella Union Company in the north, containing 111.91 acres). Notarized by R.H. Kingdon on Oct 23, 1896 in Sierra County. In 1929, the Monitor claims are mentioned to be part of the "Consolidated Place Mine, along with Hardscrabble, Poor Boy, Pennsylvania, Morning Star, Bella Union, Monitor and Bon Ton mining claims, situated on the southwest slope of the ridge between Slate and Canyon Creeks." The channels extended 8,000 feet with an average width rim to rim of 1,800 feet. Registered as one of Mt Pleasant Ranch Mines as early as 1885. [Ref: ROTM by J.E.
