1. Atlantic-Pacific Railway Tunnel Co. Stock Certificate Pair - Lot of 2 different. 1) No. 4136, issued in 1884 for 33 shares. Ink very faded so it is hard to make out signatures. 2) No. 12517, issued for 2 shares in 1883. Signed by M.M. (Brick) Pomeroy as president. Pomeroy worked on this railway tunnel through the Divide for a twenty year period and never made it. While no railroad was ever constructed, the five mile tunnel project was a huge undertaking. About a mile was completed on the east side and some work was done on the west side. The tunnel was to carry a railroad from Stevens Gulch through Kelso Mountain and through the Divide, exiting near Decatur on the Snake River. The company did acquire some mining claims near the east portal (Ellis & Ellis). Small vignette of a train going through the mountain and the names of the mountain peaks such as Torry's Peak and Mt. of Holy Cross above. Both have folds, creases. One has toning. The other has faded ink. 4 x 8.25" 2. Wooding Railway Warning Device Co. Stock Certificate - Inc. in the Territory of Arizona. No. 836, issued for 70 shares to Peter J. Geagan on Oct. 24th, 1913 at Tucson. Signed by president B. Wooding and asst. secretary William Malone. Not cancelled. Black border and print, gold seal, and great vignette showing a train collision being prevented by a godlike woman with the words "Hasten the Vigilantly Watched Railway." Denver Colorado
