Very interesting group of 5 specimen prototypes for this railroad company's 1904 annual pass. All printed on cardstock (no printer listed). All of the designs are quite different. One even has pencil marks crossing out certain aspects of the pass (suggested edits from someone at the railroad?). Some of the passes do have toning or soiling. This railroad was the brainchild of David Moffat who wanted to build a rail line from Denver due West to Salt Lake City. Construction started in 1902. By the time Moffat died in 1911, it had reached Steamboat Springs. Moffat was in New York at the time of his death trying to raise additional money for the line that nearly cost him his fortune.
