Location of Works: Pine Flat District, Sonoma County, California. No. 1, 2, and 3 Consolidated. This is an 1860s stock that wasn't issued until 1884. It is No. 701, issued to and signed by the company secretary, A.C. Sweetser for 6 shares on Oct. 14th, 1884 in San Francisco (written over Sacramento dateline). Not signed by a president. This likely means that Sweetser was transferring ownership of the property to sell. In 1861, the Pine Flat District had some 33,000 feet of claims. Among the claims being worked in 1861 were the Cincinnati, Dead Broke, Pittsburg, Pioneer, and Denver. However, from 1882 to 1894, the Great Eastern was the only quicksilver mine in production in Sonoma County, and it was not located with the above mentioned claims. Therefore, at the time of this stock issue, the mine was not in production. Printed by H.S. Crocker & Co. 5 x 8.5" Creases, bent corners.
