Lot of 2. 1) No. B69, issued for 1930 to VH Williams, Traffic Manager for Chicago & Illinois Midland Ry. Co. 2) No. B402, issued for 1931 to JL Dease, Gen. Agent for New York Chicago & St. Louis RR. Both are black print on blue paper. Printed signature of president WR Freeman and signed by W Holwell. This railroad began in 1902 as the Denver, Northwestern and Pacific Railroad formed by David Moffat and others to connect Denver and Salt Lake City. At a cost of $75,000 a mile, it cost Moffat his fortune, and he died while trying to raise more money for it. It reorganized as the Denver & Salt Lake Railway after Moffat's death and continued westward. However, it only ever reached Craig, Colorado, less than half the distance to Salt Lake City.
