Pass No. 107, issued for 1889 to Herman Silver (treasurer of California Southern Railroad). Signed by L.M. Fouts as superintendent. Printed by Hosford & Sons. Blank reverse. Staining and soiling. This railroad was chartered in 1880 by David Moffat with the intention of heading west from Denver to Boulder and then cross the Rockies into Utah. They decided to go north instead, eventually servicing Longmont and reaching Lyons. It survived its competition by servicing the coalfields at Canfield and Mitchell and the quarries at Lyons. One of Moffat's first attempts at a transcontinental railroad running due west from Denver. (Prag Collection) City: State: Colorado Date: Inventory# 41022
