Stock Certificate from the Denver, Utah & Pacific Railroad Co. Incorporated in Colorado. Certificate number 77 issued c1880, at Denver to E. Flynn. Signed by president and secretary Ernst. Printed by Kendall Bank Note Co. Size 11.375 by 7.875 inches. Nice condition. Not cancelled. Beautiful certificate with blue ink on buff-colored paper, with an embossed seal on the lower-left portion and a nice vignette of a steam locomotive in the center. This railroad was chartered in 1880 by David Moffat with the intention of heading west from Denver to Boulder and then cross the Rockies into Utah. They decided to go north instead, eventually servicing Longmont and reaching Lyons. It survived its competition by servicing the coalfields at Canfield and Mitchell and the quarries at Lyons. One of Moffat's first attempts at a transcontinental railroad running due west from Denver.
