Group of annual reports from 1927 (1st Annual) - 1946 (20th annual). Softcover, approximately 25 pages, includes income statements, profit and loss accounts, general balance sheets, capital liabilities, and freight and passenger statistics and operating performance. The Denver, Northwestern and Pacific Railway was a U.S. railroad company incorporated on July 18, 1902, by David H. Moffat and others after Denver was bypassed by the Union Pacific Railroad line. The line passed through Cheyenne, Wyoming; and the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW), which routed through Pueblo, Colorado, and Royal Gorge. Driven by the Denver business community's desire for a more direct route, the Denver, Northwestern and Pacific Railway was going to originate in Denver and terminate in Salt Lake City. While never completed as a separate route to Salt Lake City, the line eventually connected with the D&RGW's main near Dotsero, shortening the route between Salt Lake City and Denver. The line initially featured an climb over Rollins Pass, later bypassed by the Moffat Tunnel, and became known as the Moffat Tunnel Route. DNW&P was placed in receivership on May 2, 1912, was reformed as the Denver and Salt Lake Railroad in 1913, and finally the Denver and Salt Lake Railway in 1926.
