Rare 1864 Desert District, Churchill county, N. T. deed. Issued in Dayton, Nevada Territory to William Hussey and William A. Clark of Dayton for 25 feet of the Red Ledge Company Lode in the Desert District of Churchill County, Nevada. The Desert Mining District was also known as the White Plains District. A 5 stamp mill was built there about 1863, but was unsuccessful, perhaps because of the isolation and lack of water. Most of the White Plains companies were financed by Eastern concerns.
