Specimen cut by saw 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 2". Consists of coarsely crystalline light-gray quartz vein with clots of black silver sulfide minerals , the other 1 x 2 x 2". Specimens consists of light gray, waxy quartz vein with thin dark gray stringers of silver sulfide. Some tiny silver sulfide crystals. The Island Mountain district was discovered in 1869 and is about 60 miles north of Elko, Nevada. The Diamond Jim mine consists of silver and lead-bearing quartz veins cutting the contact between a phyllite and Prospect Mountain Quartzite. The mine was worked on a small scale from 1980 to 1981.
