1) The first one is a Chicago Burlington and Quincy railroad company. Cert. number 10447 for 100 shares. Issued to William H Vanderbilt on November 23, 1880. Cashier signature illegible. Also signed by WH Vanderbilt on the reverse. No hole cancels on signature. 2) The second certificate is the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad company. Certificate 11225, not issued but signed by WH Vanderbilt as president. 3)The last one is Staten Island Railroad company. Issued to Nathaniel Marsh. Certificate 259 for 50 shares on March 28, 1864. Signed by WH Vanderbilt as president; not signed on diverse. A nice trio of Vanderbilt signatures from the Vanderbilt railroad empire. WH Vanderbilt was the eldest son of "Commodore" Cornelius Vanderbilt. Even though he outlived his father by only eight years, he increased the profitability of his father's holdings, increased the reach of the New York Central Railroad, and doubled the Vanderbilt wealth.
