This wood model stamp is marked "Diltz Mine Merced". It is roughly 7 inches in diameter, 12.5 inches tall overall, with a base at 7.5 inches tall; the stem has a slight taper. The purpose of this model is to demonstrate the size and use of iron stamps to pulverize rock to extract gold. The exterior is laminated in 1/2-inch strips carefully nailed, and a stamp "90" on the top flat. The piece has been lathe turned referenced by centering points. The Diltz Mine is famous for its gold specimens from California.
