"Do Your Duty" "Union Is Strength"--two hands grasping each other. Mormon token, supposedly made by Peter Haws, leader of a Mormon wagon company. Private coiner, in Iowa, later moved to Utah. Round, brass, 17mm. Peter Haws, (17961–1862). Farmer, miller, businessman. Baptized into LDS church. Moved to Ohio. Served mission with Erastus Snow to Illinois, 1839. Moved to Illinois, ca. 1839. Alternate on Nauvoo high council, 1840–1844. Trustee of Nauvoo House Association. Ordained a high priest, Dec. 1841, in Nauvoo. Member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge. Moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa Territory, 1846. Moved to area near Humboldt River in Lovelock Valley, Utah Territory (later in Nevada), by 1854. Moved to California, by 1855. Died in California.
