Lot of 2.  1.  United Rico Mines was incorporated in 1903. Fred Holabird said “United Rico Mines Co. was taken over by the Rico Mining Co.  The ore minerals were chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena with pyrite and fluorite gangue. They had a 1000’ foot tunnel and a 3,000’ tunnel.  [Forty-seven] different minerals being reported from the Rico area.  Up to 1916 1,200,000 lbs of copper had been produced” [Ref:  Holabird, The Alexandra Tillson Filer Collection, Part II:  Colorado, Nevada, Montana and The Hauser Collection of Anaconda Corporate Seals, p. 114, 2000]. No. B239 issued Solomon Holzer by T. J. Cunningham, assistant Secretary, and H. Godet, President, on 12 May 1908 for 50 shares. Also countersigned by the assistant Secretary of the New York Trust Company.  Signed by Holzer on the reverse and two witnesses.  Some wrinkling.  U/C.  Good condition.  2.  The Rico Mining Company.  Pioneer Mining District.  Incorporated in 1911, issued to Herbert G. Einstein, by Wm. Sausbury, Secretary, and H. Ewart, President, on 7 June 1915 for 50 shares.  The mines of this company produced silver, copper, lead, and zinc through 1,000’ and 3,000’ tunnels.  Holabird said “the company owned the properties of the Pro Patria M & MC and the United Rico Mines Co., comprised of 156 claims on 1,100 acres including a mill site.  Claims reportedly showed veins ranging from a few inches to 15 ft in width, a mile long and proven to a depth of 700ft.  Ore averaged 4% copper, 10% lead, 10% zinc and 10 oz silver per ton.  The mines had produced 1.2 million lbs copper prior to 1916 [Ref:  Holabird, Western Americana Auction #9, Volume 2:  Colorado, p. 51, 2001]. Cancelled.  Some folding.  Good condition.
