Original framed broadside announcing C. F. McGlashan's new book, the History of the Donner Party, published in 1880. These broadsides are spectacular. We have been lucky enough to handle perhaps three in the last 40 years. The broadside has a great picture of Donner Lake at center and is subtitled "a tragedy of the Sierra". McGlashan conducted a thorough two-year investigation of the Donner tragedy, culminating in this book. The story was first run in serial form in the Truckee Republican and is McGlashan’s main claim to fame. Printed by HS Crocker & Company of Sacramento. Crocker is known to printing historians for his beautiful colorful printed bill heads and printed works. This broadside is printed in green, red and black. The frame is 10.5 x 13". Excellent condition. A must for any Tahoe collector. Date: Location: Lake Tahoe, California HWAC# 49048
