Douche kit and locking chastity belt. Unusual silver (plated on brass?), two strip, inner connecting, with a circular, point depression locking device. No key. Engraved floral patterns on both top faces. Four tiny holes at each end indicate the possibility of a cloth device that this was attached to. Two additional parts were found, one with the same rectangular, slightly curved surface and about 8" of the interlocking chain mail. The silver (plate?) is still evident, though a pleasing white and light green oxide is now present. It is difficult to ascertain, but this unique item may be opined as part of, and pieces from, a locking chastity belt. It has a curved and lock surface very similar to those seen in museum shots on the internet, as well as those I've seen around the world in museums (FH). The particular aspects of this piece are fairly unique to a chastity belt. When collections of others are viewed, the nature of the locking device is so special that we have been unable to find use of this type in any other application. It has been suggested that the "belt" portion of this piece was the main supporting mechanism, and that a sturdy leather covering lower portion covered the crotch with leg holes, or it was attached in some manner at the sides. Any leather would have long ago dissolved, leaving behind only the metal parts. There appear to be remnants of an unknown substance attached to the bottom of the larger part, which may support the concept of a chastity belt. The sum of the parts recovered would indicate that perhaps less than half of the full device was recovered. These parts came up rather randomly during the dredge process. The parts were carefully stored away until 2022. The pieces came from a small debris field in which a douche kit was recovered (SSCA 29195), included here. This unit had a black rubber bulb with about 12" of rubber tubing and various metal appendages. The tubing is "frozen" (hard) and broken.
