EAGLE BOTTLING WORKS/FRANK BAUDINO PROP./AGUILAR, COLO. The town was named for state legislator J. Ramon Aguilar. Following the Ludlow Massacre on 20 April 1914, strikers launched numerous attacks of both coordinated and spontaneous natures against mining operations, strikebreakers, and the National Guard in what is known as the Ten-Day War. One of the attacks was launched against Southwestern Mine Co.'s Empire Mine on 22 April, where armed strikers forced non-striking miners and their families into the mine and began an all-night siege outside. After negotiation led by Aguilar's mayor and a church minister named McDonald, the strikers abandoned the siege before fatalities on either side were reported.
The bottle itself is 7 1/8" tall and has a cool pictorial of an eagle on front. Dates c.1914-15 according to Preble. Great clarity with some scratching on the shoulders & body. Really need to see condition in person. Top has been replaced -- world class repair job. Minimal wear on base which also has a white blob mark that can possibly be polished. Dark spotting on slug plate lettering. Lip has one vertical tiny scratch mark & minimal pinprick bubbling. Please inspect condition in person!
NEW NOTE: this bottle has a repaired top, which is impossible to see without a hand lens. We missed it on the first round. it is fantastic.
