# 1415 fir 100 shares to SC Wheeler. Signed by Marten Wealtur(?) and president C T Halburd. Dateline New York 1881. Incorporated 1880. "Mines locate in Eagle River District." Not cancelled. Large Eagle vignette. American Bank Note printer. Pin holes. Very small edge issues. Overall quite excellent. The rush for western Colorado was soon in coming. The San Juans had already been invaded by miners and now it was west-central Colorado's turn. In the mid-1 870s the upper Eagle River valley was settled. Redcliffe, Holy Cross City, and other towns were founded. By 1879, the Aspen region was under development and precious metal mining was established in the high country. Coal mining also developed in the early 1880s to fuel the smelters and towns that arose from silver extraction efforts.
