This and the following lot comprise two different Eagle Soda works bottles. Casey & Kelly of Sacramento got their start in 1852 in Sacramento with Eagle Soda Works. These bottles are classic California Gold Rush and have a boldly embossed eagle on the front with no wording. There are two variants, one with the eagle in a slug plate, which appears to be the first or earliest variant, and the other with the eagle embossed on the face of the bottle with no slug plate. The slug plate variant here is striking for the boldness and relief of the eagle, as well as the teal color instead of the usual plain green. The pontil has a big lip of glass at the outer edge. The bottle is heavily whittled, and is "raw", never cleaned or curated or polished. There is a tiny ice pick chip, nearly imperceptible. 30459 City: Sacramento State: California Date: 1850's HWAC# 30459
