This is the earliest Nevada Territorial postmark according to Gamett & Nelson. Rarity-4. Very nice double ring cancel. This December 5, 1861 cover is very early Nevada Territory. It is from the famous Pardon Brown collection. The letter starts, "We have had one snowstorm. It lasted one week. Every day the boys hunted up most of the stock, but the wind has been blowing a gale for the last week and three nights ago it blew the fence down and about a hundred head got out....night before last the wind blew down 50 houses in Virginia City and killed 3 or 4 men." Letter is a copy of the original that graced this envelope.
