Three choice early mounted photographs, circa 1910 in and during the great oil boom of the first few years of the 20th century. The views are clearly the Kern County area, not the California beach area around Huntington Beach. The first is about 6 x 8" matter to a larger size. It shows a derrick at left and several men next to what appears to be a small refining plant and a houses. The second is an interior shot inside the main floor of a derrick pumping station with 2 men. Same size. The third is about 6 x 8.5"on the inside of a different derrick with 4 men. This is a very important part of California's history, with a new product boom that wasn't gold, silver or copper, but oil! Date: Location: Bakersfield Region, California HWAC# 56457
