Incredible book, "Topography & Hydrology of the City of New York." By Egbert L. Viele', this hard cover book comes with a spectacular full color fold-out map. This map measures 60" x 14", and shows the whole island of Manhattan, with the surrounding waterways, the adjacent islands, and the beginnings of Central Park, Stuyvesant Square, the piers, and many others. The map's legend indicates "Original Water Courses & Made Lands." Wonderful detailing, exquisite linework and colors, in excellent condition except for a small tear at one of the many folds. The book is small, measuring 9.5" x 6", and is only 13 pages. The cover has split, and some of the pages are loose.Overall, a wonderful piece of history with a museum-quality map. Extremely rare.
