Although the postmark says, "Silver City, Utah", the letter that came with the envelope clearly puts this in the Nevada Territory. Bamber express in purple (top of postmark is very good and bottom half is missing). The letter is from Charles Burke of Silver City. In the 1860 census he was actually listed as living in Chinatown, Carson County, Utah Territory (Dayton today). Written to Mrs. Blake who ran the first girl's seminary in Oakland. Included $20 and a hope that the young lady would not be expelled. Burke is working on getting caught up to date in his payments. Includes a history of the Blake Seminary
