This newspaper was active from 1863 to February 6, 1869. On that date it was sold to an anti-Chinese militant group bought the paper and changed the name to the Humboldt Register and Workingman's Advocate. This billhead was mailed after the newspaper was sold. Perkins' (old owner) is crossed out and W. S. Bonnifield & Co. is written in. The Chinese had been driven out of Unionville in January of 1869 and the new owners intended to make this paper the spokesman for the anti-Chinese movement. On May 29, 1869 the paper was suspended. Pictorial is of a printing press. Newspaper is in fancy script. Scroll work surrounds the paper which has been trimmed. To WF Stevens ex-Public administrator for subscription renewal. I wonder if he was pro or anti Chinese? City: Unionville State: Nevada Date: 1869 HWAC# 52924
