A wonderful collection f six glass plate negatives of scenes in Virginia City in an ornate framed custom light box designed for the wall. 18 x 24", approximately. Each glass negative is approximately 5 x 8" and backlit in the frame.

Upper left: Men in wagon at mine incline. Upper rt: Wells, Fargo & Co. office with the classic WF signage in front, including buying/selling of stock. middle left: Birds eye view of VC including Mt Davidson; middle rt: Sutro Tunnel entrance; bottom left: workers at a mill building; bottom rt:scene on a residential street. This scene contains an automobile and may be significant as one of the first autos to VC. While the photographer was thought to be Watkins by the consignor, it is not, since the photos are approximately 1900. But the photographer is most likely James H. Crockwell, the most significant photographer of the period. His book Souvenir of the Comstock is very collectible today, with his many photos of VC. He shot western Nevada extensively, and also the Salt Lake City area. All glass pieces and the frame are in excellent condition. City: Virginia City State: Nevada Date: HWAC# 50879
