Issued 1883 Eastern Oregon Gold & Silver Mining stock. "Mining in the district began in the 1860s with the discovery of placer deposits in the gravels of Granite Creek, and tributaries such as Clear Creek, Olive Creek, and Bull Run Creek. Placer mining was followed by lode mining as the gold was traced back to its sources. In the 1920s, many streams in the area including Granite Creek, Clear Creek, Bull Run Creek, and portions of the North Fork of the John Day River were mined once again, using large scale dredging equipment. Many miles of dredge spoils are still present along these streams. Past operations at the lode mining sites have included milling of ore and processing it to remove gold, silver, copper, and other metals through the use of cyanide solutions and possibly mercury." from deq.state.or.us Pennsylvania Granite Creek 1883
