This is an Eastlake hall mirror, with a 44.5" tall x 21" wide mirror, and two 10" wide x 8" deep shelves. This piece of classic furniture measures 61.5" tall x 50" at base, the widest point. It has a hanging wire on back. The Eastlake furniture style, as envisioned by its namesake Charles Lock Eastlake, was popular from 1870 to 1890. Eastlake was a proponent of "careful craftsmanship," and he called for the manufacture of "simple sturdy furniture." Although technically considered Victorian, Eastlake's style broke away from the classical elements of this period. Ornamentation is more geometric, and his furniture was considered a step toward Modernism. You can see this on this fantastic hall mirror. Please see photo(s) for more details.
