Assay Office of the Eberhardt and Aurora Mining Company, (Limited) London. International Mill, Eberhardt City, Nevada. Ore Assay Certificate. Unused. 187_ dateline. 13.5" x 8.25" Folds, some staining and rough edges. Eberhardt is now a ghost town located in White Pine Mining District, Nevada near Treasure Hill, Hamilton, and Shermantown. This area had a short-lived boom in the late 1860s/early 1870s when silver was discovered but the ore bodies did not prove substantial. The Eberhardt Mine was located in 1867 and was reported to be so rich it had "walls and ceilings of silver." A fire destroyed the International Mill in 1872, but it was rebuilt in 1873. The town really started declining in the 1880s. Date: Location: Eberhardt City, Nevada HWAC# 50922
