Incorp. July 1, 1863 San Francisco Calif. #218 I/U, for 5 shares capital stock @$100 ea. to Brown Irvin May 27, 1804. Signed John M. Henry pres. and Wetzler sect. Black border and print. top center vignette of mine pushing cart exiting tunnel. Bottom center vignette dog laying next to strong box w/key. Left of top vignette "Location Sierra District Humboldt County, N.T". Left side 25 cent revenue stamp. Left side the name of the ledges "3000" shares "$100" each. Town & Bacon printers S.F. Cond: no tears, no pin/staple holes, very slight discoloration on right border.
The secretary is Gustavus Wetzlar, real estate and money agent. Brown Irvin is an ex-sternwheeler steamboat captain. John McHenry is a San Francisco lawyer who was [infamously] associated with selling San Francisco waterfront lots in the early 1850's. The Sierra District was organized in 1863 across the Buena Vista Valley to the east of Star Peak at the north end of the East Humboldt Range, 10 miles northeast of Mill City.
