Seventeen EDIPHONE wax cylinders in two sizes: eight that are 6-1/8 inches long and 2-1/8 inches in diameter, all in felt-lined, thick cardboard sleeves, and all of which have been used. These cylinders are labeled with different numbers on the end edge with differing Words-Per-Minute values from 90 to 150; There are also nine cylinders that are 6 inches long and 2-5/16 inches in diameter, all in felt-lined, thick cardboard sleeves, and all are unrecorded blanks, two of which have a 3/4-inch chip out of one end; and There are also two empty cardboard sleeves in this size. The Ediphone was a dictation recording system developed by Thomas Edison that competed with the similar-purposed Dictaphone system invented by Alexander Graham Bell.
