Transferred on the reverse to Thomas A. Edison, Incorporated in 1926. This company was organized in New Jersey on May 27, 1901, to develop, manufacture, and sell Edison's alkaline storage battery. It produced batteries for mining lamps, train lighting and signaling, submarines, electric vehicles, and more. On June 30, 1932 the company became the Storage Battery Division of Thomas A. Edison, Inc. Thomas Edison (1847-1931) is often thought of as "America's greatest inventor." He developed many devices related to electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and early versions of the electric light bulb.
