Amend in 1851. Later Carl (Charles) Eimer a school friend from Germany joined him. The firm was an important importer of European laboratory supplies, reagents, scales and custom glassware. The firm furnished equipment to Thomas Edison, E. R. Squibb, Charles Steinmetz, Henry Ford and many other American manufacturers.
