A group of three stock certificates from mining companies based in El Dorado County, California, dating from 1864 to 1881. El Dorado County is perhaps America's most significant mining site; the discovery of gold there in 1848 sparked the California Gold Rush, propelling California to statehood and massively impacting the economy of the United States. The issuing companies are the Hinchman Mining Company, Bozecrans Gold Mining Co., and Woodside Mining Company. All three are signed by the secretary and president of their respective companies; the Bozecrans and Woodside certificate also bear embossed company seals. All three have engraved vignettes of mining scenes. Generally good condition with some wear and staining around edges of certificates.
