A stock certificate for 100 shares in the El Dorado South Consolidated Mining Company of Belmont, Nevada, dating from 1877. The certificate is made out to Hubbard and Co. Trustees, and is signed by both the president and secretary of the company. No. 3174 issued. Uncancelled. Belmont was a mining town in Nye County, Nevada, founded in the 1860s after the discovery of silver in the area. After the mines were exhausted in the 1880s, the town slowly declined, eventually becoming a ghost town in the early 1900s.
