Rare and early. Dateline Nevada City, April 20th, 1863. No. 70, issued for one share to Wm. Morse. Signed by Wm. W. Cozzins, president and secretary E.H. Gaylord. Unusual design with the same allegorical woman vignette on both the right and left sides of the certificate. 25 cent IR stamp on the right. No printer listed. Folds, some toning and soiling, ink showing thru from endorsement on reverse. Not in Filer or other Holabird indexes. No articles found on CDNC. Assessment notices found on newspapers.com, but no production info or more specific location. We have sold this previously as likely a Nevada City mine. Our consignor believes it may be the Picacho Mine located in Imperial County, California.
