Vol. 12, No. 1 dated October 10, 1895 to No. 52, dated October 1, 1896. Elbert County Tribune was published 1885-April 30, 1920, with J.B. King as founder. King had been publishing a newspaper in La Veta, also owned a dry goods store, and he used his paper as an advertising medium. J.W. Summerset apparently bought the paper in 1901, but sold it the same year or the next to John R. Pope and a Mr. Imus. King later published the Eastonville World and the Calhan Enterprise. Pope was the publisher until 1909, but he sold the Tribune to Alfred Neuman in 1910, who then moved the paper to Elizabeth in 1920 (coloradowest.auraria.edu). Measures 20 x 26 ½”, with spine repaired with tape, separated from text block and front cover. Small tears along the edges and several pages stuck together.
