Extra rare and early Colorado Territorial. Location of Mines Clear Creek Co., Colorado (printed under title). Inc. in Pennsylvania. Low number 7, issued for 50 shares to Michael Farley on July 6th, 1866 in Philadelphia. Signed by president William Elders and treasurer John Thackeray(?). Not cancelled. Fabulous design with ornate black border and title with elk vignette in the center! Printed by John Alexander, Philadelphia. 25 cent adhesive stamp attached on the left border. Folds, creases, pinholes in seal, light other wear. 7.5 x 11.25" Hollister (1867) describes this company as owning 1,200 feet on the Roland Lode, supposed to cross the SE face of Silver Mountain. They are "taking out the best of what appears to be a 40-ft vein and crushing it in Morris & Miller's 12-stamp mill at North Empire. It may cost considerable to find the true fissure, but it is claimed that for a width of 40 feet it will pay for handling in a large mill" (pg. 249).
