Light gray quartz band contains inclusions of darker gray vein quartz from adjacent band. The Elko Prince mine is in the northeast part of the Midas District. In 1915 the Elko Prince Mining Company began operation of its fifty-ton cyanide mill and was a high producer for five years. In April, 1922 a fire destroyed the mill and in 1924 The Gold Circle Consolidated Mining Company revitalized the district. The mines were closed in 1942 by the war.
