Strong Elko Strike. Manuscript received information on left. 1870. From EV Robbins to GD Roberts. Robbins was a brand new minister for the Presbyterian Church in Elko, He would evenually settle as a minister in San Francisc. Hhis wife became a storng advocate for Chinese women who were often living in slavery condtions in the city! Roberts was a stock broker and mining trader in San Francisco. From the letter we can see that Robbins is trying to sell his mine (we found reference to mines he owned in the Lone Mountain Mining District 28 miles north of Elko), "two other parties are interested in purchasing my mine", "I sent assays to Mr. Boyd", "I can sell the mines and furnace for double what you are offering."
