Lot of 11. Four have Cripple Creek cancels. One note says "Went down in this mine today (July 16, 1909). Another asks to have the a return postal sent to Claudia care of the National Hotel. Five color cards, one black and white, two earth tones, and three real photo post cards. Two RPCs are published by C. E. Cole of Cripple Creek. The other is by Young and shows the mine in 1908 and 1938. Some duplicates. In 1899, a man by the name of Ed De LaVergne proposed to merge his mine located directly next to the Elkton with the Elkton. With this move, the Elkton mine became one of the largest mines in the Cripple Creek area. Total, the mine would yield more than $16 million in gold and would be active until 1956. (Prag collection)
